Fayetteville & Fayette County refinishing

Fayetteville Bathtub Reglazing & Surface Restoration Without Full Replacement

A worn, stained or outdated tub does not always need to be torn out. In Fayetteville, bathtub reglazing (also called refinishing) can restore the surface of your tub, sink or tile where it stands, leaving the plumbing, walls and flooring around it alone.

Surface restoration

What reglazing can restore

Reglazing works on the surface of a fixture. When the tub itself is sound, these problems can usually be corrected without replacing it.

  • Worn, rough or dull porcelain and enamel
  • Stains and discoloration that cleaning no longer removes
  • Chips, nicks and localized rust spots, repaired first
  • Outdated colors such as pink, green, blue or almond
  • Peeling earlier refinishing, stripped and redone
  • Dated but sound wall tile around the tub

Specific damage is covered on our bathtub repairs and refinishing page.

How long a refinished tub can last

Unique Refinishers has refinished bathtubs for more than 55 years. How long a reglazed surface lasts depends largely on preparation and everyday care.

In our experience it is not uncommon to see tubs we refinished 10–15 years earlier still in excellent condition. That is an observation from our own work, not a guarantee: results depend on the condition of the tub, surface preparation, use and cleaning. Ask about written terms for your project before work begins.

Restore it or replace it?

Send a photo of the tub, sink or tile and we will tell you whether reglazing is a good fit.

Fayetteville homeowner questions

Frequently asked questions

What is bathtub reglazing?

Reglazing (also called refinishing or resurfacing) renews the surface of a tub, sink or tile in place. The surface is cleaned, repaired and prepared, then a new bonded coating is applied. Our refinishing vs. reglazing page explains the terminology.

Can my old tub be restored instead of replaced?

If it is stable and not leaking through the body, usually yes. Replacement makes more sense for failing structure or a layout change. See refinishing vs. replacement.

Do you reglaze sinks and tile as well?

Yes. Bathroom and kitchen sinks and sound ceramic tile can be refinished. See tile refinishing and antique tubs and sinks.

Can you add a slip-resistant surface?

Yes, a textured bottom can be added during refinishing. See slip-resistant tub bottoms.

How should I care for a reglazed tub?

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid mats with suction cups. Our guide to how long refinishing lasts covers care in more detail.
