Gainesville & Hall County refinishing
Gainesville Bathtub Refinishing, Fiberglass Repair & Tile Restoration
Gainesville homeowners can renew a worn bathtub, repair a damaged fiberglass shower or refinish dated tile without tearing the bathroom apart. Bathtub refinishing, also called reglazing, restores the surface in place, and we will tell you honestly when a fixture is better replaced.

Three main services
Tub refinishing, fiberglass repair and tile work in Gainesville
Bathtub refinishing
Porcelain, enameled steel, fiberglass and acrylic tubs with worn, stained or dated surfaces are repaired and given a new bonded finish in place.
Fiberglass repair
Chips, holes and qualifying cracks in fiberglass tubs and shower pans are repaired once the shell is stable underfoot, then refinished so the repair blends in.
Tile refinishing and repair
Sound ceramic wall tile and surrounds can be refinished in a new color. Loose tiles and failing grout are repaired first, because refinishing does not waterproof a wall.

Matching the problem to the right fix
Not every bathroom problem calls for the same answer. This table shows where refinishing fits and where it does not.
| Problem | Usual fix | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Faded or chalky fiberglass | Refinishing | The shell is sound; only the gelcoat surface has worn |
| Chips or rust spots | Repair, then refinish | Localized damage is filled before the new finish |
| Dated tile color, tile still firm | Tile refinishing | Changes the look without removing the tile |
| Loose tile or failed grout | Repair first | Refinishing goes over sound tile only |
| Tub leaking through the body | Replacement | A new surface cannot fix a failed shell |
| Moving or resizing the tub | Replacement | Refinishing keeps the existing layout |

Lake Lanier region
Lake homes and second baths
Gainesville sits at the north end of Lake Lanier, and many homes in the area, including lake houses and rentals, have guest bathrooms that see heavy use in some seasons and little in others. A refinished tub or shower in a bathroom like that benefits from good ventilation and gentle cleaning between uses.
For a look at a project elsewhere on the lake, see the shower and tile restoration at a Lake Lanier home in Cumming. That project is in Cumming, not Gainesville.
How long a refinished tub can last
Unique Refinishers has refinished bathtubs for more than 55 years, working from our headquarters in Sugar Hill, south of Gainesville in neighboring Gwinnett County.
In our experience it is not uncommon to see tubs we refinished 10–15 years earlier still in excellent condition. That is an observation from our own work, not a guarantee: results depend on the condition of the tub, surface preparation, use and cleaning. Ask about written terms for your project before work begins.
Gainesville homeowner questions
Frequently asked questions
Do you refinish bathtubs in Gainesville and Hall County?
Yes, we take residential refinishing requests from Gainesville and the surrounding Hall County area, including nearby communities such as Oakwood and Flowery Branch. Availability varies by address, so share yours when you request an estimate and we will confirm service.
Can a fiberglass shower pan be refinished?
Often, yes, if it is firm underfoot. Cracks caused by flexing need the support corrected first. See fiberglass tub repair and our guide to fiberglass tubs.
What can be done about cracked or chipped wall tile?
Individual damaged tiles can often be repaired or replaced before the wall is refinished. Our ceramic tile repair and grout restoration guides explain the options.
Is reglazing the same as refinishing?
Yes, both describe renewing a tub, shower or tile surface in place. See refinishing vs. reglazing.
How soon can I use the tub after refinishing?
The tub must stay dry until the coating has cured. We give you care and use instructions for your job; our drying and curing guide explains why curing matters.
Not sure which fix you need?
Send a photo of the tub, shower or tile and we will tell you whether refinishing, repair or replacement makes sense.
